Underground Botanists, Outlaw Farmers, and the Race for the Cannabis Cup
What would happen if you smoked a fictional strain of cannabis? Would you get fictionally high? Or would it open some kind of portal between fantasy and reality? Now you can find out because a cannabis grower in San Francisco was inspired by my novel BAKED to bring the fictional strain called “Elephant Crush” into the real world. Sometimes weird and wonderful things just happen.

Recent Sativa Test Drives
Nevil’s Haze - A sample from the same batch that Caitlin Podiak called an “absolutely superb sativa-dominant hybrid.” I couldn’t agree more, this was one of the best strains I’ve ever tried. Happy, buzzy, clear, and cerebral with a great smell and smooth taste that indicated the flowers had been beautifully grown and cured.
Black Thai – Another fantastic strain. A potent Thai x Afghani cross that delivered a relaxing body feel with a classic sativa uplift and some mild trippy visuals. Tasted great and caused fits of giggling.
The White Visitation – A triple sativa: White Rhino x Super Silver Haze x Trainwreck named after a mysterious institution in Thomas Pynchon’s 1973 novel Gravity’s Rainbow. This strain was very potent. Heady and somewhat heavy (I suspect that’s due to the Trainwreck genetics) with the interesting side effect that I woke up from a great night’s sleep after smoking it feeling completely refreshed.
Pineapple Thai – Great smell and taste. Light and cerebral. Perfect for daytime.
Kingsbread – Pure Jamaican landrace sativa. Not much smell and not a particularly distinctive taste, but the effects are fantastic.
